Tanjung Luar

Tanjung Luar is one of the main fishing ports on the eastern coast of Lombok. There are several nice beaches with good conditions for surfing and most of the surrounding countryside consists of scrubby vegetation. Many houses in Tanjung Luar are built on stilts in the local Bugis style. Since most of the town's population is involved in the fishing industry, a strong smell of fish permeates the air continuously.

In the nearby town of Keruak you can see tradesmen building the boats that are used for fishing. Nice woodcarvings can be purchased in the town of Sukaraja, which is also in the vicinity.

Accommodation and restaurants are available in Tanjung Luar. The town is 1110 km east of Jakarta.
