Tenganan

Tenganan is an ancient, walled Bali Aga village that can only be reached by motorbike, or on foot. Tenganan is known for its weavings of the rare double ikat cloth. Several times a year ancient versions of gamelan and accompanying dances are performed there and numerous other unusual customs, festivals and practices exist in Tenganan.

Nearby are the towns of Amlapura and Tirtagangga, where you can see interesting water palaces.

Some accommodation is available in Tenganan, although most people visit it on a day trip. Tenganan is 45 km northeast of Denpasar and some 1000 km east of Jakarta.
