Torun

Torun was founded in the 13th century, as an outpost for the Teutonic Knights. In the 1280's it became a Hanseatic city. The town became quite wealthy and many of the Gothic buildings that can still be seen today were built in that time. Torun is also the birthplace of Copernicus and there are several museums in town dedicated to him.
