Most interesting sights in Liechtenstein are situated in its capital. Vaduz is a small town and the center is a small area enclosed by the streets of Städtle and Ă„ulestrasse. All important buildings are in this central area. The Staatliche Kunstsammlung (State Art Collection) has exhibitions of contemporary art. Numerous works that were collected by the princes of Liechtenstein over the centuries are on display there.
There are several museums in town. The Landesmuseum (National Museum) has exhibitions of old coins and weapons, as well as Liechtenstein's folklore and history. At the Postage Stamp Museum you can see examples of most of the country's stamps issued since 1912. There is also a Ski Museum in Vaduz.
On the hill overlooking Vaduz is a castle. It is not open to the public, but the views are magnificent and the castle is also worth a closer look. Several nice walking trails run along the nearby ridge.
There are several hotels and restaurants in Vaduz, but most of them are quite expensive. Vaduz is in the west of the country, close to the border with Switzerland.
