Warren was established in 1837 and incorporated as a city in 1957. Nowadays it is a suburb of Detroit. The suburb is an important metalworking center and there are numerous steel-processing plants. Other products that are manufactured in Warren include tool, automobile engines, bodies and other auto parts. The car industry has declined since the 1970's, but it still remains of great importance. At Warren's vast Detroit Arsenal military vehicles were made. It closed in 1996. The large General Motors Technical Center is in Warren.
Accommodation and restaurants are available in town. Warren is in the southeast of Michigan, 130 km southeast from Lansing and 650 km northwest from Washington D.C.
