Xanadu

The remains of Xanadu, the marvelous palace of the great Kublai Khan, are not far from the town of Duolun in Inner Mongolia. During the times of Marco Polo in the 13th century the marble palace was beautifully decorated, but nowadays there is little left of it. The ruins of Xanadu are not much visited and that is no wonder, as there is hardly anything to see.

Xanadu is 280 km north of Beijing.
