Many people visit Pentecost to watch boys practice land diving, or naghol as it is locally known. Others are more interested in underwater diving, which is especially spectacular at Laone. Around Hotwata are some hot springs and at Melsisi you can visit kava and cocoa plantations. From Pentecost's southwestern coast you get excellent views over the neighboring island of Ambrym and its active volcanoes.
Many islanders live traditional lifestyles and adhere strictly to indigenous beliefs, despite the appearance of Christianity being the main religion on Pentecost.
There are several hotels and restaurants on Pentecost. The island is 200 km north of Port Vila and has air connections with the capital.
