The Lake District National Park

The Lake District includes some of England's most scenic regions. There are numerous green dales, precipitous mountains, though not very high and many lakes. Every lake has its own distinctive character. it is said that the lakes of Ullswater, Grasmere and Windermere are the prettiest, but Wast Water, Crummock Water and Buttermere are just as beautiful and far less crowded. About 10 million people visit the area each year, so especially during summer it can get quite crowded at some places.

Accommodation is widely available in the villages of the Lake District, but during the summer many places are full. The hills in the region are excellent for hiking.
